Meet our 2012-2013 Executive Team

Samuel Ito – President & Finance

Hey everyone! I’m a fourth year business student, majoring in Operations Management. Although. I was initially a marketing student, I fell in love with Operations Management after taking OM 352. This coming year, I will be leading the OM Club as we organize several new events at the School of Business. Keep checking back on the website for the latest info on all our awesome events! I’m also a lab instructor for OM 352 and a member of the JDC MIS team.

In my spare time, I play touch football among other sports. I’m also interested in small business and consulting – let me know if you have any crazy ideas! If you’re interested or curious about the OM Club at all, send me an email at sjito@ualberta.ca and I’d be more than happy to help.

Keith Kowalsky – VP Academic

Hey guys, I'm Keith! I have just finished my fourth year of Business at the University of Alberta. This summer I am working on a province-wide Human Resources project for Alberta Health Services; this will be my third Co-op Work Term as a business student. Throughout fall and winter I will be in charge of the tutoring program for two Operations Management classes: MGTSC 312 and OM 352.

The Operations Management club is transitioning into the next full year and I am actively looking for tutors so that I may provide fellow students with subsidized lessons that help encourage learning. It is my passion to be beneficial to young business professionals at our University. I am interested in analyzing business problems and using real data to make informed decisions. I enjoy games, backpacking, as well as reading.

Matt Crowley – VP External

I am very excited to be in the role of VP External for the upcoming 2012 / 2013 academic year. My role is to help the club raise funds for our various amazing events such as the SCOPE Conference (Student Conference on Operations) and the fall Case Competition.

Personally, I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in finance in December 2012. In terms of work experience, I owned and operated a small business called Sunshine Acres Landscaping for three summers. In the summer of 2010, I launched a lease to own real estate business called SweetZone Properties. This past summer, I held an Operations / Efficiency Internship position at Derks Fine Group of Companies. In this position, I created a task-measurement system from the ground up and had the opportunity to work with management and make strategic labour decisions. When I graduate, I hope to pursue a career in commercial real estate. Please do not hesitate to contact me with reference to anything with the club! (…and especially any entrepreneurial efforts you are pursuing!) Cheers and I look forward to hearing from you.

Brendon Ngan – VP Events

Hell o everyone! I'm Brendon; I am VP Events for the OM Club and a fourth year student at the U of A. As an accounting major, I hope that through this club I am able to see more than just financial statements, but also understand more of the daily operations that companies go through. I have completed all my Co-op work terms, and I hope to go on exchange sometime in 2013! If you have any questions regarding Co-op or the events that we are going to hold, please to do NOT hesitate to give me a shout! As for hobbies and interests, I would rather have you know more about me by meeting you in person- besides, business is about building your networking right?! Good luck with school and I hope to see you around the SoB!

Troy Oishi – VP Marketing

Hey everyone, I am a third year Alberta School of Business student pursuing my Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Business Law and Economics and a minor in Marketing. My goals this year are to increase interest and promote the field of operations management, as well as bridge the gap between students and employers. In my spare time I enjoy working out and reading case law. I look forward to seeing everyone around school this year. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask; whether it be in the halls, on the bus, the gym locker room, or by email.
